Tanger a Arzila

tanger-1895-solomon-sealThese stamps were issued in 1895-8 in Tanger, Morocco. I heard a rumor that King of Morocco at that time wanted to marry the daughter of the head of the Jewish community and that’s why the Star of David appears on coins and stamps from that period on, but usually Moroccan six-pointed stars are Muslim Solomon Seals. Picture is courtesy of Dr. Claude Wainstain from France.
